Overview
The Big Island is certainly one of the must see destinations on your Hawaiian vacation and this is the perfect way for your whole group to see the most diverse climate of the Hawaiian Islands. Following your hotel pickup, our expert guide will show you the many different Big Island attractions as you make your way to the world’s most active volcano.
The beginning of your tour visits the peaceful Liliuokalani Gardens, the largest Edo-style Japanese Garden outside of Japan filled with unique plants and ponds. A stop at where most of the world’s macadamia nuts grow, and a sampling of macadamia nuts give you a great idea of the diversity of the Big Island.
Once you arrive at the Hawaii Volcanoes National park, you will have extraordinary views of the world’s most active volcano, Kilauea, and its ever growing addition to the size of the island. While in the park, you will have the closest views allowed by the Hawaii Civil Defense and:

When flowing, lava can be often be seen day or night. Due to flight departure times from Hilo, visits to the lava viewing area regularly conclude at approximately 7pm. If you desire to see lava at night, please be sure to check the time of predicted sunset during the season in which you are planning to visit to determine darkness for lava viewing. Because of the ever-changing intensity and course of lava activity, viewing areas are subject to change as deemed necessary by Hawaii Civil Defense. Additionally, please be aware that lava flows are a naturally occurring event and sightings are not guaranteed.
Volcanic fumes (VOG) are hazardous to your health. Persons with breathing and heart difficulties, pregnant women, infants, and young children are especially at risk should consult a health care professional before taking this tour to avoid potential health problems from exposure to fumes. All passengers are required to sign a release of liability form. Currently Civil Defense has closed the Kalapana viewing area during the day. Nature changes so the lava flows, viewing location, and the tour will change accordingly.
